Rosily Vineyard 2022 Shiraz
"Shiraz from Margaret River is a vinous diptych to Barossa Valley β two unique pieces of art that collectively make the world a better place. A 14% alcohol, medium bodied, almost Merlot-esque Shiraz β is an area more people need to venture. Perfumed in what can only be described as the five flavour elements β sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami. Respectively, a medley of carob, prosciutto, black plum, rhubarb and soy. Slight, yet buoyant, the wine has appealing juiciness and a puckering acidity like that of early picked raspberries. Cherry cola, vanilla and white pepper notes ride along silty tannins to a dash of closing Angostura bitters. 90 points." - Tijana Laganin, Winepilot.com.au, Sept 2024
"Youthful and lifted aromas of dark cherry, blueberry, spice, white pepper and anise. Fleshy, blue fruit driven and generously flavoured in this youthful, textured and very drinkable, mid-weight shiraz. The tannins are firm and shapely and there's plenty of life and spark in the acidity. Smart value. 90 points, silver medal." - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review, April 24
"A touch of sweet, nutty French oak on the nose along with ripe blue and red berries. More of the same on the palate, with some pepper and spice in the background. The weight is medium, the texture is silky, the tannins fine-grained. Itβs soft and seamless as it glides over the tongue, one of those reds with perfect pitch that you can enjoy now or keep for years. Another argument for growing more Shiraz at Margaret River. 95+ points. BUY" - Kim Brebach, bestwinesunder20.com.au, April 24
Past Vintage Reviews and Awards
Rosily Vineyard 2020 Shiraz
"Really brilliant savoury tannins in here. The fruit is plump and ripe...blackberry, spice, dense and powerful, lovely gravel and graphite, a beauty..." - Wine show judge's comment, WA Boutique Wine Show
Rosily Vineyard 2018 Shiraz
"Great vintage, super-value wine that punches well above its fighting weight. Plush spicy clove fruit flavours with a dash of pepper. There's a little minerally oyster shell like character. Medium weight and perfectly framed and poised. Dry savoury finish. 92 points" - Ray Jordan, The West Australian Nov 2020
Rosily Vineyard 2017 Shiraz
"Estate-grown, hand-picked and sorted in the winery before being crushed and destemmed, with some juice run off prior to fermentation, 19 days on skins, then 16 months in French oak (30% new). An elegant medium-bodied shiraz with red cherry to the fore, tannins and oak in support roles. Will repay time in the cellar. 92 points." - James Halliday, winecompanion.com, Aug 2019
Rosily Vineyard 2015 Shiraz
"Margaret River Shiraz continues to live in the shadow of big brother Cabernet, even if it's good enough to enjoy some limelight. The 2013 was outstanding but sold out before I got my order in. The 2014 was another good one but I bought the Cabernet. The 2015 is a smoothie that's good drinking already; it delivers ripe fruit, pepper and spice and all things nice. I had question mark over the finish but it settled down over the next couple of days. It came into its own when we drank it with a home-made salami and bacon pizza. 94 points" - Kim Brebach, January 2018, bestwinesunder20.com.
"A pointed, mid-weighted shiraz sculpted by sinewy tannins, subtle oak cedars and cracked pepper acidity. As is the wont at this estate, the winemaking jigsaw pieces fall effortlessly into play with the fruit, mineral and spice elements: blueberry, violet, pastis and iodine. 92 points." - James Halliday, 2019 Australian Wine Companion.
Rosily Vineyard 2014 Shiraz
Rosily Vineyard 2013 Shiraz
"Marg River Shiraz so often seems to fall through the cracks when one looks for a good drink. And this is a lovely drink, which shows the region/variety combo deserves more attention. Chocolate, red fruits and florals, with a little grip on the finish, but it does linger well. A wine with a future and excellent value - 90 points; drink to 2023" - Ken Gargett, Winelinx Aug 2017.
Rosily Vineyard 2012 Shiraz
"Medium-bodied Shiraz displaying a mix of spices and herbs on the nose with a lick of licorice. The palate is smooth and textured with a dusty feel of sinewy tannins and light oak" - Ray Jordan, WA Wine Guide 2017"
Rosily Vineyard 2010 Shiraz
"Nice to see a more mature shiraz being released. This is terrific. The primary savoury fruit characters have started to be overtaken by more leathery spicy features. The palate has a gravelly loamy character with loads of dark berry flavours and a dollop of chocolate. This is an outstanding wine for pasta and the like. What a super price too". - 93 points." - Ray Jordan, WA Wine Guide 2016
"Medium to deep red colour with the barest of purple tints remaining. The bouquet is earthy, faintly herbal and straightforward although starting to mellow. The wine is medium-bodied and soft, but layered with savoury flavours and powdery tannins. A hint of liquorice. It's developed and mellowing; a savoury rather than fruity style. A very good-value mouthful of red, ready to go". Excellent buy, 89 points, ranked 12th out of 29 2010 Margaret River Shiraz tasted, price benchmark of $40.27 - Huon Hooke.com, November 2015
Rosily Vineyard 2009 Shiraz
"Red colour with a faint tinge of purple. Fairly youthful, straightforward red fruit aroma, with a hint of cassisy cabernet-like character. The palate is medium-bodied and lean with a quite firm tannin back and finish. The tannins are quite assertive and a little grippy. A wine of intensity, backbone and agreeable flavour". 90 points, ranked 4th out of 25 2009 Margaret River Shiraz tasted, price benchmark of $43.70 - Huon Hooke.com, June 2014
Rosily Vineyard 2007 Shiraz
"This is now a lovely mature wine just starting to move into its secondary stage, though still with plenty of time ahead of it. It's soft and supple with a delightful savoury and slightly leathery character. Ripe fine tannins with perfectly integrated oak. Love the clove and savoury plum combination. A ripper. - 92 points" - Ray Jordan, The West Australian Fresh, March 29 2012
"Light but bright colour; its light - medium-bodied palate is elegant, the flavours lifted by some spicy notes, the finish long and balanced.." RATING 92. DRINK 2017 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2012
