The Gros Ventre Rose is a grenache based, certified organic wine that is 100% grown and produced on Rosily's single vineyard Wilyabrup site. It is a light bodied, refreshingly dry style of rose, bursting with berry, toffee, and spice characters.
The Gros Ventre (aka big belly) was the name of the ship upon which Count Francois-Etienne de Rosily sailed up the west coast of Australia in 1772. Along with accurately charting Shark Bay and Dirk Hartog Island, Rosily found time on the voyage to assist in laying claim to West Australia on behalf of France. Had this claim been successful, grenache based rose wines such as the this may well have been fashionable in the region a lot earlier than now.
